This past Saturday we played three hard fought periods of 10s vs our friends over at Fairfield Yankees Womxn's Rugby Club. It was our first match since the Playoffs in the fall and we were home and ready to play.

First period we had two tries by Ariel Wang to start off the match, followed by two tries from Jordyn Marlin, and then a try each by Mercedez Roper and Katie Duca. Tiff Gregory made 3/6 conversions and Fairfield also scored a try bringing the first period 36-5.

The second period was started off by a Fairfield try, followed by a try each by Ash Purper and Katie Duca, and finished with another Fairfield try making the score 46-15.

Our final period started off with two Fairfield tries and finished with a try and conversion by Tiff Gregory making the final score 53-25.

Our Womxn of the Match goes to Jordyn Marlin. Jordyn played in two different positions yesterday, including her first time at 10 with our team! She did a great job in setting things up and getting the team to move forward while also putting two tries on the board. Our Ninja Turtle award goes to none other than Mercedez Roper.  As always, she was a complete powerhouse on the field! Breaking many tackles on offense and making many chase downs with try saving tackles on defense!

We also had two Rookie players, Laura Burke and Bianca Mendoza make their debut, both playing their first match of rugby EVER! 

It was a great showing from everyone who came out to play, both for Union and for Fairfield.  We're looking forward to next week's home match vs. Reading Womxn's Rugby.
