Youth Tackle Sponsorship Opportunities

Good morning, As we prepare for the 5th Annual Bob Scheurer Memorial Winter Classic on December 15th, and the broader Tackle season this Spring, we wanted to make an ask of all Mudturtles. The Youth Tackle program does everything it can to run at the lowest cost possible to our players. We want to expand opportunities for the kids in our area, and sometimes that means operating at a loss. Sponsorships are a big help to the organization in managing our operating costs while keeping season dues low. The Youth Tackle program as a whole is always seeking sponsorships, and has the ability to accept sponsorship funding through a non-profit corporation account, which makes any sponsorship a tax deductible donation. Union County have beaten HV/FLY this past Saturday 76-7 and are now moving on to the final round vs. Long Island. The match will be home this Saturday, 10/26, 11 AM at Unami Park! This Saturday, 10/19, your #1 seed Lady Mudturtles are hosting #4 seed Hudson Valley/FLY at Unami Park at 11 AM for the Semi Finals. Come out and support Union County Women as they look to punch their ticket into the EGU D3 final. Mudturtle 50th Day Saturday October 12 at Unami

Remember this Saturday October 12 at Unami Park will be "50th DAY" to celebrate 50 years of Union County rugby. Last Saturday saw a big crowd come out to cheer on the Mudturtles, first the ladies who posted a 38-5 win over Long Island rugby. The men followed with a 24-5 win over Central Jersey Rugby. With these victories both the men and ladies continued their Fall season unbeaten streaks. This weekend the day starts at 11:00 with a Myths versus Legends flag match, open to any and all former players, fans, and family of Mudturtle rugby. Dust off your boots and show us you still have moves. Kegs will be tapped at noon. The men's A side will kick off at 1:00 against Bayonne, followed by a 3:00 kickoff of the B side also against Bayonne. After the matches there will be Hall of Fame Inductions inductees are as follows: Mike Sadowski, Jim Brady, Pat Burke, Curtis Noel, Billy Maclaney, and Will Galway. Drink up will follow. Come out this Saturday October 5 at Unami Park to support your Mudturtles. The day starts at 11:00 when the women kick off against their biggest rival Long Island. Our ladies went undefeated on the recent UK tour chalking up two wins and have been rolling since. Show up early and watch some impressive rugby. Following the women our men will kick off at 1:00 against Central Jersey. A full day of rugby in Unami, put on your Union swag and come cheer both sides.

AGM & Men's Fall Practice Reminder

Hi Gents, As a reminder the men's club AGM will be held at 7pm tomorrow evening at the Community Center (220 Walnut Ave, Cranford, NJ). This event is mandatory for all active members. We follow this up with our first Fall practice on Thursday, August 8th. All practices in August will be held at Unami Park from 6:30-8:30pm, and we plan on continuing our usual Tues/Thurs schedule. Coaching 2 Course Volunteers Needed

Hello Mudturtle family! Union County Rugby is back at is again giving back to the sport through hosting a USA Rugby Level 2 Coaching Course. We are in need of volunteers to assist these future coaches in drills and games on Saturday, August 10th and Sunday, August 11th from 10 AM to 12 PM. All that is needed is athletic footwear! Men's Fall Rugby

Gents, I hope everyone is having a great summer! We are about a week away from the CanAm tournament in Lake Placid, and with the AGM following on August 7th, we wanted to provide a few reminders heading into next week. We will have two formal practices before CanAm, next Monday and Wednesday at 6pm at Unami. Even if you are not going up, please make an effort to come to practice and help us prepare. Next week we will not hold regular touch on Tues/Thurs due to the practices. The AGM is mandatory for all current members. See you the Cranford Community Center (220 Walnut Ave, Cranford, NJ) at 7pm on Wednesday, August 7th. Practices will begin the week after the AGM, on August 13th. Our first game is September 7th. We'll send out the full schedule soon. Fall is right around the corner, its time start thinking about rugby. Looking forward to another great season! Best, Tom

MUDTURTLE FLAGFEST SATURDAY JULY 20, 2024

Tomorrow Saturday July 20 is Mudturtle Flagfest at Madison Ave Park in Rahway. 1333 Madison Ave, behind the hospital. All are encouraged to come out and cheer on our future Mudturtles. There will also be an adults Myths VS Legends (MVL) flag game at the end of the Fest. All Mudturtles are invited to join in on the fun. MVL legends shirts will be available for $20 each, arrive early to get you shirt. MVL game starts after all flag games are over which is 11:30 to noonish in rugby time. There will also be a beer garden which opens during the MVL game and will stay open afterwards. Don't miss out this is always a great event which puts the fun into rugby.

Volunteers Needed

Union County Mudturtles will be hosting coaching clinics this summer and in need of volunteers! We will be hosting a Level 1 Coaching course Sunday, July 14th from 8:30 AM until 5 PM at the Clark Rec Center and a Level 2 Coaching Course Saturday and Sunday. August 10-11th 8 AM to 5 PM. Volunteers will not be needed for the whole day, just 2-3 hours for practicals. Summer 7s and Saranac 15s Availability

Gents, Hope you are all enjoying the down time, getting fitness and lift sessions in. You should start preparing for a banner fall campaign. Rugby is most fun when you are fit. Anyone for 7s? Stay fit, have fun and win some hardware! Practices are 1x per week usually Tuesday or Thursday with the other day being touch. We have 4 tournaments scheduled this summer Rockaway (This Saturday), Princeton 7s (6/22) Danbury 7s (6/29), and Surfside 7s (7/13). * Please Note in order to give you some downtime before 15s training for Saranac and lack of enough interest, the New Haven 7s on 7/20 won't be attended. As some of you may know Megan Farrell, the daughter of life long Mudturtle Kevin Farrell, is fighting a rare and inoperable brain sarcoma. Saturday July 6 will be Meghan's Miracle Fundraiser from 3:00PM-7:00PM at the Elks Lodge 84 Ramtown-Greenville Road Howell NJ. All are encouraged to show up and support. 50th Anniversary Week

Greetings to all Mudturtles, This is our 50th Anniversary week golf outing this coming Friday June 7 and Gala Saturday June 8. To help commemorate the 50th we have an oversized rugby ball we would like all past and current Mudturtles to sign, see link below for picture. We will have the ball at the golf outing and Gala for signing.
