Food and Coat Drive 10/7
Hello Mudturtle Family, Union County Women's Rugby is hosting a Food and Coat Drive Saturday, October 7th between 11 AM and 3 PM during both Men and Women's Matches. Please bring your nonperishable food items and any lightly worn coats to be donated on behalf of the club. Thank you and happy season of giving!
Jersey fundraiser
The women's team is auctioning off our retired Blue Jersey set as a fundraiser. If you are interested in a jersey, please see the form below for the list of available numbers and corresponding sizes and to place a bid. The auction will end after our home game on October 7th (11am KO if you want to come support!) See link below.
All Hands on Deck
Gents, You've played inspiring rugby this season. You've overcome incredible odds, large roster turnover and have been incredibly coachable leading to your success. We have played good rugby and hang our hat on high quality defense. You have outscored opponents 90-18 thus far, yet we are far away from achieving our goals of an undefeated season and 1st place in our division. The next two weeks will be the most challenging as we are without 27% of our starting 15 for weddings and the world cup as we compete with Danbury and New Haven for 1st place. Now is not the time to be complacent, we will react-adapt-decide to overcome and not let it slow our aspirations. Next man up mentality, others must rise to the occasion. We will be shuffling different people at 9,10 & 15. If you feel you can play on our top side at any of these positions, please let it be known during training so we may get a proper look at you. Looking forward to getting after it tonight, please come to training, there is only 6-8 trainings left of the season. We need all hands on deck and must continue to develop and play as one. Practice Tonight
Good Afternoon Gents, We need to have a good showing at training tonight, please make every effort to attend. We are playing good rugby, have outscored opponents this season thus far 73-18. If you want to achieve all of our goals of a league championship and a national title run this spring; we need all hands on deck! Tonights focus will be on skills for 30 minutes, we'll split backs and forwards for 20 minutes, then review new penalty plays, counter attacks and kick chase structure while we have a team run through. Rugby at Union County Celtic Fest Saturday Sept 9, 2023
Saturday, September 9th is the First Annual Union County Celtic Festival, hosted at Oak Ridge Park in Clark (136 Oak Ridge Road Clark, NJ 07066). The Festival will be featuring rugby games during the day and the Mudturtles will be involved in ALL of them. This is the the schedule of games: 10:00am - High School Boys 7s 11:00am - Women vs Long Island 1:00pm - Youth Flag 2:00pm - D3 Men vs Morris 4:30pm - D4 Men vs Princeton While players will be admitted to the festival free of charge, there will be a fee for all others. Friends and family can use the following link to get discounted tickets to the festival for $10 rather than $25 at the gate. https://fevogm.com/event/UnionCountyCelticFestivalPiper The code is good through Wednesday, 9/6 at midnight. For $10 the event will be well worth it. There is a lot on the festival grounds but it may be better to operate under the assumption that it will be full. Everyone should expect to park in the overflow area or additional offsite lot so allow a little extra time to arrive. A shuttle will bring us to the game and it isn’t far away. That this is an unfortunate, unavoidable downside to an otherwise awesome event.
Men's AGM 2023
The Men's AGM will be this Wednesday August 9th, from 7-9PM at the Cranford Community Center- 220 Walnut Ave Cranford NJ 07016.

Saturday July 22 Myths VS. Legends flag game
It's that time of year Mudturtle Rugby Flag Fest is this Saturday July 22, kids games kick off at 9:00. Location is Madison Ave Park in Rahway, 1300 Madison Ave (behind hospital) Following the kids games we will be having our annual Myths VS Legends Flag game open to all adult Mudturtles which include current and former players from all programs, friends, fans, and anyone else who purchases a Myths VS. Legends shirt for the low low price of $15. Myths kickoff to Legends around noonish. The Mudturtle beer garden will be open during and after the game.
Golf outing Friday June 2
A reminder for those golfing tomorrow the schedule for the day is as follows: • 7:30 - 9:00: Check in at registration table and Continental Breakfast • 9:00 - 2:00: Shotgun from assigned hole (18 hole scramble with golf cart) • 2:00 - 4:00: Cookout Lunch, Awards & Raffle winner selection Do check in upon arrival so the course knows you are there and will have the proper amount of carts ready for the start. The forecast is calling for a very warm day so remember to bring something cool to drink to stay hydrated. Thanks

Sean MacLaney
Sean MacLaney has been playing rugby for 16 years since he started in First grade with the Westfield Owls. This upcoming weekend, he is playing in the Division1A National Championship game - Navy vs. Cal on May 6, 2023, which can be watch on therugbynetwork at 7:30 pm. During the playoffs, he was voted the "Man of the Match" in Navy's win over Army when Sean lead his team with their opening try of the game.
Sending Lady Mudturtle To Super Regionals
The Lady Mudturtles will be playing in the Atlantic Super Regionals April 29-30, representing Union as the Empire GU D3 Champs. Help support the ladies by clicking on the link below, supporters have a chance to win a ball signed by the ladies team.
Saturday April 1 Double Header Home Openers!!
Put on your Mudturtle Swag and head to Unami Park today, April 1, the club has a double-header with both a Ladies and Men having their home openers. The ladies, who are the 22-23 Empire GU champs kick off at 11:00 with the men to follow. All are welcome to come support the Mudturtles.
Mudturtle Shop Sale Extended Till May 15
Please note we will be extending the sale in the Mudturtle shop sale till May 15. Tree has acquired samples of the Bomber jackets so people can try them on for size. He will be bringing them to the mens and ladies games this Saturday April 1 so you can see which size fits best.
Calling All Mudturtles
March with the Mudturtles in the Union County St. Pats parade Saturday March 11 all from our Flag & Tackle programs, Men's & Women's teams, alumni & supporters are welcome. Assemble 11:00 AM in lot across from Boys and Girls club 1050 Jeanette Ave Union. After parade we will assemble at Dowlings in Roselle Park.
Men's Practice Spring 2023
Men's practice for the Spring season starts this week 8:00 at Rahway River Park on Tuesday and Thursday, we will be in Rahway every Tuesday and Thursday until we announce moving to Unami. Be there boots on warmed up and ready to go.

This Sunday, March 5, you have a chance to watch a legacy of Mudturtle Rugby play professionally as Michael "Chicken" Dabulas and Old Glory of Washington DC travel to New York to take on RUNY. See link below for game and ticket information.
