Please have them pre sell what they can and return any money and unused tickets in an envelope with their name, tickets sold, balance unsold, at practice Thursday 4/11. (Ex. $50 / 5 unsold tickets ) This is an important fundraiser for us so please let your friends and family know. They can show up day of and get their car washed. We will also have Mudturtle Merchandise on sale for everyone who is interested. We hope to see all of you there. The teams will be working the car wash as scheduled U12. 8:00- 10am (set up) U14 10:00- 12pm (Coach will assign HS teams for car wash) HIGH SCHOOL (1) 12:00- 2 pm HIGH SCHOOL (2) 1- 3 pm ( break down) Please be early for your shifts.

Unfortunately details were just finalized earlier today so we could use some help from you all fulfilling our hosting duties. Lady Mudturtles 2nd Annual Barrel of Cheer This Saturday!
This Saturday, April 13th after the Lady Mudturtles scrimmage against Montclair State University, we will be raffling off a Barrel of Cheer (a mix of different types of beer, wine, and spirits!). Tickets are 2 for $5, 5 for $10, and a whole 20 for $20! Please help us fundraise our Regionals trip which will be taking place April 20th. Mudturtle Day at Unami Park Saturday April 13
Good things happened for the Mudturtles this past weekend. The men went to South Jersey posting a 44-19 win. The women went to and secured their first ever victory over Morris!!! This weekend Saturday April 13 is a full day at Unami with the Ladies B side playing Montclair U at 11:00, followed by the Men D3 kicking off against Brooklyn at 1:00 and D4 kicking off against Bayonne at 3:00. We encourage all Mudturtles to come out and support lets fill up Unami Park!! Also do not forget to first drop by the Mudturtle car wash that is being run by our youth tackle program. Location is at Brad-Pak 124 South Avenue Garwood, NJ.

Gents, Tomorrow we open up our first game at Unami at 1pm. The first home match of the 2024 Spring season. The Albany Knicks are coming down with 2 sides to reignite an old rivalry. We need all hands on deck to help fill out our 2nd side. Men's Practice Tonight
Gents, Thanks for the solid showing over the weekend. You boys played tough and gutted out terrible weather against a higher division playoff team. Up 10-3 at the half, I gave Monmouth back their red card loss of player and soon after our front row went down with injuries. You boys didn't give in and even after losing some backrow players and scrumhalf, you still gutted it out for a full 80 minutes. We came up short 28-10 but this baseline test was very productive. We have things to work on and improve, but we have even more to build off of. We need to finish trys, we need to finish tackles, we left 3 trys off the board with poor skills under pressure meters from the try line. Best part is all of this is easily fixable. We need everyone out at training. Tonight we will focus on skill work to begin with then progress and focus on rucking, scrums, line-outs, counter-attack, and bring it all together for a semi-opposed run through seeing players at different positions. We need everyone at training, we need all hands on deck. If you were only planning on coming Thursday please make every effort to be there tonight. Competition breeds success. Hello, We have a game this Sunday at Madison Ave Park , Rahway. 1pm A side 2:30 B side. In Rugby their is a tradition that we feed our guests ( players and coaches) its a great tradition that allows the players to socialize a bit after a game. This Sunday we will be hosting Saint Anthony's from Long Island in our last Pre -season game. Parents please take a look at the volunteer list for any items or help you can provide. Union County Women's Rugby Spring Season Begins Saturday
SPRING SEASON IS BACK FOR THE LADIES! This Saturday at Madison Ave Turf Fields (1333 Madison Ave, Rahway NJ) the Lady Mudturtles faceoff against South Jersey and Harrisburg in a Round Robin format. Kickoff is at 11 and social to be followed at Butch Kowal's sponsored by Moaaz Mediterranean Grill (28 St Georges Ave, Rahway, NJ 07065). Come out, support, and RAISE SOME SHELL!!!

We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration. The Gala will be held on June 8, 2024 at 6pm and is a formal event including cocktails, dinner, awards, and dancing to honor and celebrate 50 Years of Mudturtle Rugby. Register prior to April 15, 2024 by using the link below. Should anyone traveling out of town require lodging for the weekend, there is a block of rooms reserved for our group at the Kenilworth Hotel. MUDTURTLE RUGBY TO INVADE ENGLAND
Greetings, To celebrate our 50th Anniversary the club will tour to England. The time has finally come to begin collecting deposits for our trip this August! Below is a link for the clubs 50th anniversary page. On this page you will find a link showing tour details and another to make your initial deposit of $500. If you are ready to go and would like to secure your spot, submit your initial deposit. Once you register, a member of the Tour Committee will reach out to you to confirm your details including any guests, rooming, and kit sizes. Deposits are being collected between February 15 and March 1. IF YOU DO NOT PAY YOUR DEPOSIT BY MARCH 1 YOU WILL NOT BE GOING ON TOUR. Can't wait for the Mudturtle UK takeover!

SIX NATIONS RUGBY
The Six Nations rugby competition is underway and being broadcast on the Peacock Network. This is a good opportunity to tune in and be a student of the game. Watch some high level rugby study how they play and become a better player.

Hello, Unfortunately we have to cancel practice on Sunday 1/28/24. We do not have access to the Rahway Rec center. We will resume Sunday practice the following Sunday 2/4/24 same times. Please encourage the kids to watch some Rugby and workout on their own. 2023 Unions Men's Wrap Up
Good Afternoon Gents, Just wanted to send out a quick wrap up on our season. It was a year that started off with the clubs foundation rocked with departures, discipline and turnover. You all bought in to the new systems and laid a solid foundation for the club to flourish for the foreseeable future. The core of this team is rock solid and I look forward to a spirited spring season where we build on our success and write another chapter in Unions rich history. Hopefully, we welcome back some of those that were not with us this year after hearing of all your successes! Thank you to Coach Taranto, Coach Erickson and Coach Smith for making this season a success. A full day of rugby in Unami Park Saturday October 7. The women kick off against White Plains at 11:00, the men D3 side then faces New Haven at 1:00. Finishing up the day will be the men D4 at 3:00 versus North Jersey. The Mudturtle Christmas village will also be open. For sale will be club ties, supporter scarves, club blankets, and plushies. Get you xmas shopping done early.
Biggest Challenge of Season
Men, You are playing great rugby, wearing your heart on your sleeve and leaving it all on the pitch. This week we will stay away from contact in training and work on pattern of play. We need all available hands on deck, we are playing to retain sole position of first place without 5-6 starters. We will not be deterred, we shall draw the line in the sand and hold the line, controlling what we can control and that is our defense. I need every player to attend training tonight, we need to put the best foot forward and assemble a team that can withstand the upcoming obstacle and continue carving our path of success. Thursday's training will be at Rutgers, making tonight very important for us to run through our pattern of play. Remember early is on-time and on-time is late. For the Club, Coach DeLucia

Gents, You've played inspiring rugby this season. You've overcome incredible odds, large roster turnover and have been incredibly coachable leading to your success. We have played good rugby and hang our hat on high quality defense. You have outscored opponents 90-18 thus far, yet we are far away from achieving our goals of an undefeated season and 1st place in our division. The next two weeks will be the most challenging as we are without 27% of our starting 15 for weddings and the world cup as we compete with Danbury and New Haven for 1st place. Now is not the time to be complacent, we will react-adapt-decide to overcome and not let it slow our aspirations. Next man up mentality, others must rise to the occasion. We will be shuffling different people at 9,10 & 15. If you feel you can play on our top side at any of these positions, please let it be known during training so we may get a proper look at you. Looking forward to getting after it tonight, please come to training, there is only 6-8 trainings left of the season. We need all hands on deck and must continue to develop and play as one. Practice Tonight
Good Afternoon Gents, We need to have a good showing at training tonight, please make every effort to attend. We are playing good rugby, have outscored opponents this season thus far 73-18. If you want to achieve all of our goals of a league championship and a national title run this spring; we need all hands on deck! Tonights focus will be on skills for 30 minutes, we'll split backs and forwards for 20 minutes, then review new penalty plays, counter attacks and kick chase structure while we have a team run through. High School Fall 7s tournament 9/17
Hello, We will be hosting our Fall 7s tournament at Unami Park on Sunday 9/17/23. We will be there early setting up from 7:30 am on through the day until the tournament is over. There is a tremendous amount of work that goes into a tournament like this. We take hosting duties seriously at Union Rugby! There will be over 100 kids playing, a lot of teams , a lot of 7s rugby, and a lot of hungry kids to feed. Rugby at Union County Celtic Fest Saturday Sept 9, 2023
Saturday, September 9th is the First Annual Union County Celtic Festival, hosted at Oak Ridge Park in Clark (136 Oak Ridge Road Clark, NJ 07066). The Festival will be featuring rugby games during the day and the Mudturtles will be involved in ALL of them. This is the the schedule of games: 10:00am - High School Boys 7s 11:00am - Women vs Long Island 1:00pm - Youth Flag 2:00pm - D3 Men vs Morris 4:30pm - D4 Men vs Princeton While players will be admitted to the festival free of charge, there will be a fee for all others. Friends and family can use the following link to get discounted tickets to the festival for $10 rather than $25 at the gate. https://fevogm.com/event/UnionCountyCelticFestivalPiper The code is good through Wednesday, 9/6 at midnight. For $10 the event will be well worth it. There is a lot on the festival grounds but it may be better to operate under the assumption that it will be full. Everyone should expect to park in the overflow area or additional offsite lot so allow a little extra time to arrive. A shuttle will bring us to the game and it isn’t far away. That this is an unfortunate, unavoidable downside to an otherwise awesome event.

Hello, On September 9th 2023 Union County Rugby will be playing Rugby as part of the UNION COUNTY CELTIC FESTIVAL. The festival will be held at Oak Ridge Park in Clark NJ. We need 25 Hawks/Eagles from ANY of our Mudturtle Flag teams, to play one game showcasing our flag rugby program. Slots are filling up quick! A reminder for those golfing tomorrow the schedule for the day is as follows: • 7:30 - 9:00: Check in at registration table and Continental Breakfast • 9:00 - 2:00: Shotgun from assigned hole (18 hole scramble with golf cart) • 2:00 - 4:00: Cookout Lunch, Awards & Raffle winner selection Do check in upon arrival so the course knows you are there and will have the proper amount of carts ready for the start. Sean MacLaney
Sean MacLaney has been playing rugby for 16 years since he started in First grade with the Westfield Owls. This upcoming weekend, he is playing in the Division1A National Championship game - Navy vs. Cal on May 6, 2023, which can be watch on therugbynetwork at 7:30 pm. During the playoffs, he was voted the "Man of the Match" in Navy's win over Army when Sean lead his team with their opening try of the game.
Car Wash April 29th Cancelled
Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate yet again. We are cancelling the car wash for tomorrow, Saturday the 29th, but will try to reschedule for a later date. If you have purchased tickets, please hold onto them. Thank you.
Youth Flag Rugby Registration Now Open
Spring is here, weather is warming, and Flag Rugby registration is open. Our season starts the week of June 5th, with first games on Saturday, June 10th. The season wraps up Saturday, July 22nd with our annual Flag Fest. We look forward to all joining us for a summer of Flag Rugby and FUN. Register today!

Sorry for the wildly last minute bad news, but I just woke up to an email from Morris that they do not have the numbers for today and have asked to cancel. I'm sorry we'll be dropping a game, but I hope it's time for the bumps and bruises to heal and for you all to have some home time with the boys.

Please note we will be extending the sale in the Mudturtle shop sale till May 15. Tree has acquired samples of the Bomber jackets so people can try them on for size. He will be bringing them to the mens and ladies games this Saturday April 1 so you can see which size fits best.

March with the Mudturtles in the Union County St. Pats parade Saturday March 11 all from our Flag & Tackle programs, Men's & Women's teams, alumni & supporters are welcome. Assemble 11:00 AM in lot across from Boys and Girls club 1050 Jeanette Ave Union. After parade we will assemble at Dowlings in Roselle Park.
Men's Practice Spring 2023
Men's practice for the Spring season starts this week 8:00 at Rahway River Park on Tuesday and Thursday, we will be in Rahway every Tuesday and Thursday until we announce moving to Unami. Be there boots on warmed up and ready to go.
