In their opening match of the 15s season, the Union County (NJ) Mudturtles (1-0) defeated Doylestown 38-22 in a hard hitting non-conference contest. Doylestown got off to an early lead with strong forward play going up 10-0. The Mudturtles answered with 2 tries by winger Ryan Dones to tie the game at the half, 10-10. High winds served as the extra player on the field, making kicking and lineouts a little difficult. The second half saw the Mudturlte backline able to string together solid play with a try by Hunter Musson. Scrum half Sean MacLaney took advantage of a quick break to barrel his way in for another try. A few plays later, Sam DiDeminico was able to field an attacking kick-pass to add another score. MacLaney was able to add a try on another quick break to go up 38-10. Musson mastered the wind, making all 4 conversions. Doylestown answered back with a strong run by Jesse Capriotti for a try. In the closing moments, Doylestown put another try on the board and converted.
